I’ve found that during the holiday party season, it’s those finishing touches that really make all the difference. There are three things that I like to call “the finishers” in my beauty routine: the Secret Brightening Powder, Translucent Loose Setting Powder, and the Infusion de Rose Lip Balm. The latter was a quick addiction: it’s sheer balm that adds just the right amount of moisture and it smells heavenly. What’s not to love? The powders, on the other hand, took some experimenting. Here’s what you need to know…
I’m fairly new to using powders. Since I’m a fan of the glowy look, I always thought that powders would make my face look too matte – dull the glow. It turns out that’s not the case. In fact, they actually work to highlight the glow even more. The Secret Brightening Powder is now my under-eye savior. After I applyconcealer, I dip my brush into the powder (note: a little goes a long way with this stuff) and then lightly press it under my eyes. It sets my concealer which makes it last so much longer, all with an added ‘brightening boost’. The same goes for the Translucent Loose Setting Powder. I use it all over my face post-tinted moisturizer. It sets the tinted moisturizer, without appearing cakey at all. (Not to mention, it’s applied via rolling motion with this velour pouf that kind of feels amazing on my face.) When all is said and done, it’s super lightweight and I hardly feel like I’m wearing makeup at all.
There you have it: there can’t-leave-the-house-without-them products that are certainly essentials during the holiday festivities, but will be favorites well after party season is over.

Every September, the biggest names in the industry meet in Florence to discuss the latest trends.
Pitti Fragrances will feature the installation-event by American journalist Chandler Burr, a leading expert in the industry and perfume critic for The New York Times: 15 scents and 15 masterpieces of painting, photography, sculpture and architecture.

Question: How can I keep my hair shiny and soft all summer, especially on weekends under the sun and on the beach? Answer: With July 4th right around the corner, we asked celebrity colorist and blonde hair Whisperer Lorri Goddard (she is behind the color of Jennifer Lawrence, Reese Witherspoon and Rosie Huntington-Whiteley) to share its rules of hair summer.
1) Invest in a shower filter. Pass your normal rainfall for Raindrops or T3 filter to remove heavy metals such as mercury, magnesium and copper; iron and rust from steel pipes which leads to the color of brass; and chlorine, which studies have found in the water of the families of levels near the recommended amount for swimming pools. “Filter these toxins will help save the vitality of your color,” says Goddard.
2) Lock in color at the salon. “I use the B3 Brazilian bond Builder on each of my clients. It ‘a bit’ bulb that packs a serious punch and prevents color literally washing your hair, keeping the inner and outer layers of healthy hair, tightly closed and protected.”
3) Wash your hair before and after swimming. “Think about what is chlorine. A super powerful cleaner designed to kill germs in the water when it comes in contact with your hair, especially if you’re in the sun, the heat activates the chemical stripping agents, which is the why hair turns green, “says Goddard, who says it is important to rinse the hair immediately after leaving the pool, but also right before. “If you go with the hair soaked, it will absorb less chlorine.”

Ah, spring. After a winter trapped in boots and tights, you’re probably itching to let your toes free. Your feet on the hand? They’re probably not quite ready for their close-up. So because we know the line for a pedicure on the first warm day of the season is not for the faint of heart, we asked the experts for tips on achieving soft, smooth feet right at home. We promise these techniques will have you sandal-ready in no time.
1. Cleanse with a mild exfoliating soap. Instead of treating your feet as an afterthought when you shower and haphazardly running a bit of your body soap along your toes, consider this part of your body the way you would your face or hair–it requires a special cleanser with exfoliating properties to help shed dry skin cells. Getting into the habit of cleansing your feet with a separate product like Avon Planet Spa Blissfully Nourishing With African Shea Butter Hand and Foot Scrub is your first step to removing dead skin on a daily basis and replenishing the soles and tops of feet with needed moisture.
2. Shed your skin. It doesn’t matter how clean you get ‘em, if you suffer from dry, hard skin on the heels or balls of your feet, they’re going to look unsightly. Baby Foot Deep Exfoliation for Feet Peel is the most insane foot product you’ll ever try that works–and I mean, works in such a way that you’ll see a trail of disgusting, dead skin literally peeling off of your foot a few days after you apply it. It’s a three-step process and takes a few hours of commitment on your part, but if you were still carrying a lunch box to school the last time you remember seeing the true color of your feet, isn’t it worth a whirl?
3. Pull out the pumice. There’s a reason foot experts love the old-fashioned pumice stone: it works. “Using a pumice stone is a great way to remove callouses on the bottom of feet,” said Dr. Suzanne Fuchs. For the best results, soak your feet first with warm water and Epsom salt for about 10 minutes. Dip a stone like Develop 10 Natural Pumice Lava Rock into the warm water for a few seconds and then, using a firm circular motion, rub the pumice rock onto your dry skin until it starts to come loose.
4. Moisturize. After exfoliating your feet, Fuchs recommends applying coconut oil or a foot cream that contains urea to break down stubborn callouses and dry skin. Some of Fuchs’ favorite creams include Aquaphor Original Ointment and AmLactin Moisturizing Body Lotion, which can be used on both feet and legs.
5. Go natural. If you’re looking for a smooth foot solution void of chemicals, Rodrigo Diaz, the creative director of GOA Skincare, shares one he discovered while traveling halfway around the world. “In my travels to India, visiting the royal family in Ragasthan, they have a quick and easy way to relieve both tough feet (they walk around all day barefoot) and tired feet,” Diaz says. Mix Himalayan pink salt, such as Chef’s Jar Sherpa Pink Himalayan Salt, with eucalyptus leaves in hot water and then transfer the invigorating concoction over to a bowl that fits both feet. Soak your feet for 5-7 minutes and then pat them down and apply argan oil, such as 100 Percent Pure Organic Argan Oil. “This will release any dead skin while reconstructing newer skin,” Diaz said. “The feet will feel fresh and ready to attack the day.”
6. Sleep in socks. The best time to treat your feet is in the evening–you can thank your favorite pair of wooly socks for that. “To help get your feet ready for summer, a glycolic foot cream under a sock to aid in penetration can work wonders to both exfoliate and hydrate the skin,” said Dr. David E. Bank at The Center for Dermatology, Cosmetic & Laser Surgery. “Even better if you put the cream on your feet overnight with socks to let it penetrate while you sleep. Dove Celebrity Hair Stylist Mark Townsend styled the gorgeous Mary Kate and Ashley Olsen for tonight’s Met Gala… or, more officially named: ‘China: Through The Looking Glass’ Costume Institute Benefit Gala at the Metropolitan Museum of Art ~ May 4, 2015 in New York City.
Below is the breakdown of their simple yet sophisticated bohemian hair styles directly from Mark himself via his personal Instagram photos getting them ready so you can recreate them for yourself.
“Ashley told me several days ago that she wanted to wear her hair half up and was also thinking about gold hair accessories – that got me extremely inspired!
* To create the look, I started by applying a few drops of Dove Youthful Vitality Silk Crème to her damp hair and let it dry naturally while she had her makeup done.
* When her hair was dry, I gathered the top section of her hair and pinned it into a topknot.
* Then, I took the hair from each side and pulled it up and wrapped the hair around the base of the topknot, purposely letting the gold bobby pins and hair pins show because they are such a great effect to a simple style – I got them at Sephora.
* Next, I used R Session Tools double barrel iron to create loose waves in the hair that was left half down.
* I finished by liberally spraying Dove Style+Care Invigorating Dry Shampoo throughout the hair for texture and hold.
“I was so inspired by Mary Kate’s vintage Dior gown that we first decided to keep her hair back and then decided on braids.”
* To start, I applied a few drops of Dove Youthful Vitality Silk Crème to her damp hair and blow dried with a round brush.
* Next, I coated my hands with Sally Hershberger 24K Texturizing Paste and split her hair into two sections
* Lastly, I loosely braided each side and secured with an elastic.

“With this shooting, I wanted to reflect beauty as it is around us in the world, in realistic, everyday surroundings,” Von Unwerth says.
